the "hidden" partners.
Our Mentors will be profiled in this section on a rotating basis. They have "wife" experience they are willing to share. Feel free to email them and get to know them. They are here for all of us!
Alice My husband and I were married in 1974, and he joined the Department in 1977. We were high school sweethearts so we have been together for almost 39 years. We have a son and a daughter in their early 20's, who both live at home and are attending college.
The last 6 1/2 years I have been employed at the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation, as the assistant to the Executive Director. We are sometimes referred to as the "widows and orphans fund". Before this job, I was a stay-at-home mom, actively involved in school and church events. Our whole family loves hockey, both roller and ice and we spend as much time as possible at the beach.

My Name is Michelle. My husband has been in law enforcement for nearly 12 years, and with LAPD for 9 of those years. We live in Corona, but we're both from Orange County We have been married for 12 years and have 2 children. A 9 year old girl and a 5 year old boy. I am very active in my local PTA. I have also been elected to the school site council for my children's elementary school. I am employed by Corona school district doing various substitute positions throughout. This allows me to work as little or as much as I want. My children go to school year round so having my position is great and enables me to be home with them anytime their off.
I grew up in a law enforcement family. My grandfather was with LAPD for many years finally retiring as a homicide detective. He definitely had some stories!! My father has retired as a Police Officer but now works for Orange County Probation Department. So I guess being a cop's wife seems very natural to me. I look forward to meeting others wives and hope to become more familiar with the department. But my goal is to show our Officers the support that we all know they desperately need, whether they admit it or not!!
